   INDEPENDENCE, WI - Steven L. Hale, 61, of Independence, WI passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021 after battling cancer.

   Steve was born May 20, 1960 to Beryle and Yvonne (Long) Hale in Black River Falls.  He graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 1979 and soon after joined the Army National Guard where he served for 16 years.  He married Brenda Kast in 1988 and they had four children, Jordan, Christopher, Shanna and Cheyenne.  They later divorced.  In 2002 Steve married Cindy Miller and together had one son, Peyton.  Steve worked for Webster Industries in Bangor and also for Ashley Furniture for 20 years.  Steve’s favorite hobby was doing mechanical work in his dad’s salvage yard.  He also loved to listen to country music.

   Steve is survived by his parents, Beryle (Judie) Hale of Ettrick and Yvonne Chamberlain of Sparta; his children, Jordan (Maggie) Hale of Sun Prairie, Christopher (Tammy) Hale of Madison, Shanna Hale of Whitewater, Cheyenne Hale of Sun Prairie, Peyton Hale of Ettrick, and step-daughter Hailey Jones of Alma Center; his grandchildren, Adam, Joseph, Addy, Damian, Elijah, Christopher, and Ziva; two sisters, Sherry (Greg) Konopacki, of Wisconsin Rapids and Sheila (Dale) Pollack of Sparta; two aunts, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

   Steve was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Martha Hale; grandparents, Allie and Beatrice Hale, and Claude and Ruth Long; aunts, uncles and cousins.

   Funeral Services for Steve will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Torgerson’s Funeral Home in Black River Falls.  Friends and family are invited for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.  A private burial will be held at a later date at the Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.
