Mildred “Millie” Rose (Lenski) Amberg, age 90, of Tomah, WI, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at her home.  She was born on October 11, 1934 in New Miner, WI,  to Joseph Lenski Sr. and Mildred (Voborsky) Lenski.

Born and raised on a farm, Millie was accustomed to hard work and challenges. Her high school years were spent at Necedah High and St Mary’s in Milwaukee where she graduated in 1952. When Millie wasn’t helping her parents work the farm, she enjoyed and excelled in sports, especially baseball, fishing, and hunting. She played women’s league softball in many places including Kendall and Necedah. Millie played shortstop and was said to have a golden glove and an arm like a cannon! She also enjoyed skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Other interests included art and playing the violin.

Millie and Dale Amberg were married in 1969. They farmed in Elroy for ten years. In 1985, she started her own business (Millie’s Live Bait) in Tomah. Additionally, she drove the school bus for Tomah Area School District for many years, and was a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She also worked at the garment factory in Mauston.

Millie retired in 2002 from her bait shop and lived independently with loving support of her family until she passed, shortly after her 90 th birthday.

Millie was a deeply caring person who was quick to spread kindness, lend an empathetic ear, or play a friendly game of cards. She enjoyed easy conversation and a cup of coffee, and of course, football (especially her beloved Packers). Her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren was boundless - She sat happily in many hockey rinks. Millie leaves a legacy of steadfast love, unselfishness, bravery, good humor and a deep, abiding faith.

Millie is survived by her children, Mike (Vicki) Amberg, Joe (Becky) Amberg, Keith (Kim) Amberg, Bonnie (Don) Roscovious, Barb Amberg (Bob Medinger), Debbie (Mark) Galle; and son-in-law, Rich Carter; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lenski Sr., and Mildred Lenski; daughters, Becky Kay (Amberg) Carter and Patricia Amberg; sisters, Dolores Louis and Lorriane Piehl; brother, Joe Lenski Jr.; former husband, Dale Amberg; and her dear friend, Joan Long.
