Longtime Tomah school board member will not seek another term

Posted

The Tomah School Board will have at least one new member following the April election.
Longtime board member Gary Grovesteen filed a notice of noncandidacy for another term. Grovesteen has been a fixture on the board for 40 years.
Pam Buchda is the other incumbent who has filed papers to seek another term. Buchda is the director of the Tomah Senior Center.
Challengers to file papers at this stage include Wayne Kling, Jim Newlun and Catey Rice.
Kling is a familiar name who has run in the past for Tomah school board and Tomah city council.
Rice lives in the Warrens area and was a vocal opponent of the face mask mandate when the board was considering action earlier this year.
Newlun is the emergency preparedness specialist at Tomah Health.
