SPARTA - Linda D. Vian, 69, of Sparta, died suddenly from a stroke on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN. She was born on May 24, 1952 in St. Paul, MN to Martin and Phyllis (Nelson) Reid. She grew up in St. Paul but traveled with her family in the military and spent time in Germany and Alaska.
Linda moved to Sparta permanently in the 70’s. She married August Vian on August 22, 1977 at the Sparta Eagles Club. On May 15, 1982, they welcomed their only child, Glenda. She worked at Century Foods as a line lead for more than 10 years. She made many friends there. She also worked at Mayo in La Crosse and Sparta in environmental services. She had been in remission from stage 4 cancer for 7 months after a 2 year battle.
Linda loved traveling, especially to Door County, WI. She enjoyed her dog Zoey, her grand dogs, and parrot, Ole. She always loved being with family and friends and she took pride in caring for her family for many years. Linda enjoyed time with her daughter even if it was watching her favorite shows or going on trips to La Crosse.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Glenda Vian of Pine Island, MN; sister-in-law, Marty Reid of Kennesaw, GA; niece, Harmony Reid of Kennesaw, GA; sister-in-law, Rose Reid of Clearfield, PA; and many close friends that are like family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Augie; and brothers, Glenn Reid, Warren Reid, Billy Reid, and Walter Reid.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Sparta Eagles Club (9901 State Highway 21, Sparta, 54656). Online condolences may be offered by www.schanhoferfh.com
