SPARTA - Lawrence Anthony Hoying, 69, of Sparta, died Friday, July 15, 2022, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, in La Crosse. He was born May 28, 1953 to Theresa (Cerceo) and Virgil Hoying in Washington D.C.
Lawrence grew up in the D.C. metro area. He enlisted in the Army in 1973, and retired in 1995, as 1st Sergeant. On December 23, 1976, Lawrence married Karin Ruenz. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Karin; son, Timothy; daughter, Kristine; brothers, John (Sharon) Hoying, James (Laura) Hoying, Thomas (Mary Ann) Hoying; sisters, Barbara Spearman, Joanne (Robert) Longo, and Mary (Don) Eisert.
He was preceded in death by Virgil and Theresa Hoying, Kathleen Hoying; and brother-in-law John Spearman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM, on Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Sparta, with the following serving as pallbearers: Timothy Hoying, James Hoying, Thomas Hoying, Robert Longo, Richard Iliff and Dominic Rohrbach
Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of services on Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
