Kiwanis members tour Spartan Lofts

Posted

For many Kiwanians who toured the Spartan Lofts Tuesday, July 26, it was a nostalgic trip—a view of one-time stairwells, former classrooms and well-remembered teachers from the years the building served as their Junior High. Back then the doors were wide open, climbing ropes hung above the balcony and principals wore ties and suit coats.
But the well-maintained 1920 building has been transformed from a school house to a high-rise apartment complex, ready to accommodate forty individuals or families at rental rates determined by the renter’s gross household income.
Kiwanians visited two- and three-bedroom apartments, each equipped with refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer.  They saw the community room and the fitness center and heard about off-street parking and on-site management.
Spartan Lofts’s location in the center of Sparta, within walking distance of churches, retail  shops and businesses, public parks and the Sparta Free Library, has a special appeal to prospective renters , said Julie VanderVelden, Spartan Lofts Property Manager. She is also Property Manager for a similar facility in Prairie du Chien. Additional information is available by phoning 608-306–0493.
The Sparta Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday noon at the American Legion Club for fellowship, lunch and a brief program of regional interest.  As an International Service Club it benefits programs related to improving the lives of young people.
