TOMAH - Howard J. Schultz, age 79, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was born August 17, 1942, to Carl and Linda (Rehberg) Schultz in Sparta, Wisconsin. Howard was united in marriage to Lois Kantz on November 30, 1963. 

   Following high school, Howard would begin his career as a roofer for Al’s Roofing until his retirement in 1996.   He also enjoyed his hobby farm during his working career, and even following.  After he retired, he spent many hours perfecting his lawn, enjoying a beer (or two!) with his friends, going to the casino, and riding his side by side.  Howard loved spending time outdoors-especially deer hunting and fishing.

   He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois; his sons, Brian (Barb) Schultz, Steven “Bubba” Schultz, and Brent (Nikki) Schultz; his grandchildren, Bronson (significant other, Maddie Schmidt), Britney (Jason) Leege, Brooklyn, and Kaylee Jean; and his great grandson, Bodie.  He is further survived by his sisters, Marlene Kastenschmidt and Velda Schwartz, and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Albert and Verda; brothers-in-law, Earl Kastenschmidt and Tom Schwartz; and sister-in-law, Janice Ippolito.

   Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.  Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Tomah.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Howard’s memory to the Tomah Emergency Services Building or the Mayo Clinic Health System.  The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
