Holiday spirits shine bright

Posted

It was a flurry of activity this weekend with nary a flake in sight.

People from all over converged on the Tomah Community Dinner at Murray on Main’s on Thursday, the Tomah Holiday Parade on Friday night, Shop Small Saturday in downtown Sparta and, of course, the opening weekend of Kriskindlmarkt, also in downtown Sparta.

Kriskindlmarkt, a traditional outdoor European-style market, continues for the next three weekends: Dec. 3 and 4, Dec. 10 and 1, and Dec. 17 and 18. Friday hours are 4 to 8 p.m.; Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Holiday shopping, traditional German food, cinnamon-glazed roasted nuts, holiday cookies and bake sale treats, hot apple cider, beer and glühwein, and live entertainment await marketgoers in chalet-style booths along Water Street, in Mueller Square and in Creekside Village. Vendors change daily – sometimes twice daily – providing a wide variety of holiday shopping opportunities.
