Melvina - Evelyn Myrtle Hanson, 90, of Melvina, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023. Evelyn was born September 17, 1932, to Selmer and Lilah (Olson) Larson. She attended Vernon County Normal School through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage
to LeRoy Hanson on December 11, 1951. She worked for a short period of time at the Tobacco Warehouse in Cashton although most of her life was devoted to being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and caretaking for her family. She was a lover of animals especially dogs, cats, and birds.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Duane “Dewey” (Mary Beth) Hanson of Cashton; her daughter, Shirley (Dale) Greenland of Melvina, WI; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; along with other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy (1987); daughter and son in law Darlene and Richard Rickey; newborn daughter, Sherry Hanson; granddaughter Jenna Hanson, great grandchildren Korey and Jazmyn Hanson, and siblings Alvin, Sylvester, Pat and Carol Short.
A Celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Torkelson Funeral Home, 720 Wisconsin St., Cashton, WI. Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Coon Prairie Cemetery, Newry, WI.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
