SPARTA - Dennis A. Vian, 75, of Sparta, passed away with his family by his side, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1947, to Arthur and Verneta “Cookie” (Leis) Vian, in Sparta.
Dennis A. Vian, 75, of Sparta, passed away with his family by his side, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1947, to Arthur and Verneta “Cookie” (Leis) Vian, in Sparta.
Dennis graduated from Sparta High School in 1965. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam with 2 tours, then returned to Sparta.
Dennis married Alice Martin on September 4, 1965 at St. John’s in Sparta. They lived in Larsen for 17 years, and Dennis worked for the telephone company, for 34 years, 11 ½ of which, were as a supervisor in Forestville, Door County. He was also a volunteer firefighter in the Larsen Winchester area for 25 years. As well as serving as the treasurer for St Peter’s Church. He retired in 2003, after 34 years. In 2004, they moved back to Sparta.
Dennis enjoyed playing darts and bowling in his younger years. He also loved hunting, fishing, dancing, lawn work, and cutting wood.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Vian of Sparta; children Weston Vian of Sparta, Brenda (Michael) Mayefski of Larsen, and Heather (Dave) Weber of Marshfield; grandchildren, Michael Mayefski of Ft. Huachuca, AZ, Joseph (Tayler) Mayefski of Hortonville, WI, Brett Jahner of Marshfield, Tanner (fiance, Hannah) Jahner of West Bloomfield, WI, Kyler Jahner currently deployed with the US Airforce, and Natasha Weber; great grandchildren, Entley Salisbury, and Blake, Kashton, and Khloe Mayefski; siblings Ron (Roseann) Vian of Sparta, Tom (Jill) Vian of Sparta, and Vicki (Bruce) Olson of Bruce, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Verneta Vian.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Reverend Jon Hackbarth officiating. Burial will be at St John’s Cemetery, Sparta.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the church.
