Dennie Carl Brown passed away on July 9, 2022. His body was tired, but his mind and spirit were strong to the end.

Dennie was born on August 11, 1943, in Milan, Indiana, to J. Carl and Georgia Catherine Brown. He honorably served in the US Army 1965-1967, building Persian Missiles in Germany. On October 15, 1966, he married the love of his life, Cherri Ann Hunteman, in their hometown of Cross Plains, Indiana; relocating to Sparta, Wisconsin in 1971.

Dennie worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at Fort McCoy for 34 years. He and Cherri Ann also owned Cherri Ann’s Hair Design for 30 years. Dennie was an artisan with wood and glass; he was a good cook, an avid reader of westerns, and a skilled gardener.

He built the A-frame on Gardener Ave where he resided for 46 years.  He was granted his wish to take his final breath there in his home, surrounded by his memories and the songs of his birds.

Dennie was preceded in death by Cherri Ann in 2015.  He is survived by his beloved children, Denise (Wayne) Winchill of Colona, Illinois, and Travis (Diannah) of Kellogg, Idaho; three grandchildren, Caden Fields-Brown of Portland, Oregon, and Seth and Madison Winchill of Colona, Illinois; sisters, Sara Brown Boyken of Cross Plains, Indiana, and Phyllis Gray of Bedford, Indiana.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
