SPARTA - David O. Molstad, 81, of Sparta, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse. He was born July 4, 1939, to Oscar and Anna (Barry) Molstad, in Sparta, WI.
David served in the US Navy from December 11, 1957, until his honorable discharge on November 11, 1959. He then served four years in the Navy Reserves. David worked for the Monroe County Highway Department for 36 years. He married Viola Yahnke on October 2, 1965, in Sparta, WI. To this union three sons were born, David Molstad of Onalaska, Michael (Hynjoo) Molstad of South Korea and Shannon Molstad of Sparta.
David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Viola; three sons; and three grandchildren, Samuel, Joshua, and McKenzie; and his sister, Marlene Bilyeu, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Anna; a sister, Kathy Synder; his brother, Alan Molstad; and his father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Evelyn Yahnke.
A private graveside service with military honors rendered by VFW Post 2112 will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.
