SPARTA - David C. Alger, 70, of Sparta, died Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his home. He was born on April 26, 1952 in Minot, ND to Edward and Margaret (Vardsveen) Alger. He graduated from Wells High School, MN in 1970.
David moved to Sturgeon Bay in 1971. He served in the US Army in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1974. He worked for Bay Shipbuilding Company from 1974 to 1994. He then moved to Sparta and worked for Wonderwash Car Wash Company. In 1995, he worked for the federal government in human resources at Ft. McCoy. He volunteered four times as an overseas HR specialist, serving at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Balad, Iraq, Bagram, Afghanistan, and Kandahar, Afghanistan. He retired in 2014.
Dave was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending most of his days on the course with his close friends.
David is survived by his children, Michael (Kristal) Alger of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Jason Alger of Green Bay, WI, Andrew (Lana) Alger of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Alexis (Dylan) Evanicki of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, McKenna, Adrian, Livia, Ryder, and Vincent Alger, and Addilyn Evanicki; his siblings, Steve (Karen) Alger of Kenyon, MN, Greg (Mary) Alger of Wells, MN, Jeff (Sally) Alger of Phoenix, AZ, and Karen (Paul) DeJardine of Sturgeon Bay, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Greens Bar & Restaurant at River Run Golf Course, Sparta. Full military honors, provided by VFW Post 2112 and American Legion Post 100 of Sparta, will be held at 4 p.m. at River Run Golf Course. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
