County seeking to fill Larkin’s board post

With the abrupt resignation of District 12 Supervisor Brett Larkin effective Dec. 10, the Monroe County Board of Supervisors is seeking candidates to be appointed to fill out the remainder of his term, ending April 18.

District 12 covers the city of Tomah Wards 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 18.

Until someone is appointed, two members of the board will fill in on committee assignments Larkin held.

Chairman Cedric Schnitzler will sit in on meetings of the Economic Development and Administration and Personnel committees, while Supervisor Toni Wissestad will sit in on the Health and Human Services meetings, according to Shelley Bohl, Monroe County clerk.

Larkin resigned his seat for a new employment opportunity, according to Bohl.

Larkin did not return a call for comment.

To be considered, candidates must send a letter of interest to Monroe County Clerk Administrative Center 202 South K. Street, Room 1 Sparta, WI 54656 by 4 p.m. Jan. 14.

Contact Bohl at 608-269-8705 or Shelley.Bohl@co.monroe.wi.us for more information.
