Colonel Todd Michael Anderson, U.S. Army, Retired, was called home to his Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the Mayo Health Care Center in Lacrosse.  He was born December 10, 1963, to Gordon and Carol (Spinler) Anderson in Graceville, MN. 

   He was baptized on February 9, 1964 and confirmed in the Spring of 1979. He grew up in various areas of Minnesota and was a member of the Foley High School Graduating Class of 1982.  He furthered his education at  Saint Cloud State University and received his bachelor’s degree in finance. 

   He was united in marriage to Joan Hartwig on September 10, 1988, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Todd joined the U.S. Army Reserve in September of 1982. He served 38 years in the Army Reserves and retired in November 2020 as a Colonel. Over his enlistment he received many honors and awards. While deployed in Iraq from 2006 – 2007 he served on the MITT Team Training Kurdish soldiers serving in the Iraqi Army.  He has  worked as a Military Technician since January 1991, most recently at Fort McCoy as a Human Resource Specialist for the 88th Readiness Division. Todd had a selfless serving heart and strong faith. 

   He was a Red Cross Blood Donor and enjoyed being involved at the Area Community Theater. He was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and served as the Treasurer, as an Elder, and played on the church’s softball team for many years. Todd’s smile and blue eyes were always the brightest when he was with his family. He loved family trips of camping, playing, and reading with the grandkids.  He was extremely supportive of his children and grandchildren, attending their sporting events, band, choir and show choir performances and other extracurricular activities. Wednesday nights were always family nights.  He will always be remembered for baking the best banana bread, and special pancakes for breakfast. 

   He was always dependable and there for his family. Todd believed in serving his Church, his Nation, and his Family. He embodied the Army Values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. He was a quiet man with a corny sense of humor.  He wasn’t loud, but when he spoke people would listen. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, son and brother.

   He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joan, of Tomah, 3 children, Joshua (Justina) Anderson of Kendall, Allison (Ryan) Preuss of Wilton, and Nicholas (Jessica) Anderson of Apple Valley, MN, 8 grandchildren, Carter, Adeline, Peyton, Nathan, Mitchell, Soteria, Josiah, and Ezekiel, father, Gordon (Janet) Anderson, of Beardsley, MN and mother Carol (Donald) Tibodeau of Easton, MN, sister Carla (Darren) Diekman of Sauk Rapids, MN, sister-in-law Linda Hetland of Roseville, MN, 3 brothers-in-law David (Esther) Hartwig of Albany, MN, Daniel (Patricia) Hartwig of Swanville, MN Larry (Sandra) Hartwig of Athens, WI, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Walter Hartwig and mother-in-law Adeline Hartwig.

   A Celebration of Todd’s Life was held on Saturday, September  18, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1221 LaGrange Ave, Tomah.  Pastor David Wurdeman & Rev. Mark Benning officiated.  Burial with military honors was at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

   Relatives and friends were invited to call on Friday, September 17, 2021, 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Sonnenberg Family Funeral Home, 801 E.    Memorial’s that are given in Todd’s Memory will go to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Tomah Area Community Theatre,  and a Veterans Charity that family will decide on.
