TOMAH - Colleen Jean Richer, 71,  of Tomah, died Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Serenity House. She was born February 18, 1951 to Harley and Helen (Linehan) Kennedy at the Sparta Hospital. She grew up in the Tomah area and was a member of the Tomah Senior High School Graduating Class of 1969. 

   Colleen was united in marriage to Gene Richer on June 10, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She worked in the Human Resource Field and worked for several different companies. She worked for Stansfield Vending at the time of her retirement. After her retirement she volunteered and worked for the Tomah Area Community Theater. She made many close and dear friends while being involved in ACT. Colleen and Gene enjoyed spending time together on camping trips, and traveling to Louisiana, Alaska, and to South Carolina. Family meals were important to Colleen, holiday meals at the Kennedy’s and the family meals during hunting season were the most special. She was a proud grandma and enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events. Most important to Colleen was her family, she loved her children, grandchildren, brother and sister and her husband.

   She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gene of Tomah, a daughter Tracey (Luke) Erickson of Tomah, Mark (Lacey Dickerson) Richer of Church point, LA, and Travis (Kelsey) Richer of Tomah, 9 grandchildren, Deven Richer, Elizabeth Richer, Dylan Richer, Hannah Turner, Gavin Richer, Ty Richer, Kaylyn Erickson, Carter Anderson, and Evan Richer, a sister Joann (Chuck) Cleveland of Tomah, a brother Rick (Bev) Kennedy of Tomah, 3 sisters-in-law Joan Shaw of Oakdale, Sandy Richer of Ladysmith, and Sue Martin of Oakdale, many other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Phillip Richer, sister Ellen Kennedy, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

   A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October  20, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah.  Burial will follow in the Warren-Mills Cemetery.
