TOMAH - Claude “Ned” Davis Jr. 86, of Tomah, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Tomah. He was born October 21, 1935, to Claude and Evelyn (Stoner) Davis in Galesville. 

   He joined the U.S. Army after high school. He served during the Berlin Crisis. He received the rank of Sergeant and served for 30 years. He was united in marriage to Inez Cox on February 7, 1959, in Black River Falls. Together they started their life in Tomah together. They lived in the Lemonier area of Tomah most of their life. Ned drove long haul semi for Keene’s Transfer and later for the Wisconsin National Guard.  Ned also worked for 13 years at Best Power.  He loved the outdoors and could be found outside, hunting, fishing, trapping, appreciating his son’s wildflower pictures, or bird watching. He had a passion for metal detecting. He spent countless hours searching for lost treasures.  He always enjoyed sharing the stories of where he found what and when.  He was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.  Ned was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

   He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Inez, 2 children, Patti (Pete) Mallory of Baraboo, and John Davis of Tomah, a son-in-law, Dave Rudersdorf of Holmen, 6 grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Mitchell, Janna (Seth) Seymour, Ethan Mallory, Matthew (Sabrina) Peterson, Kari (Nathan) Hanson, Amy (Rick) Peterson, and Joe (Krista) Peterson, 17 great-grandchildren, Colby, Dyllan, Jayden, Isaak, Tessa, Jax, Van, Mia, Raven, Madison, Lucas, Hannah, Sarah, Kylee, Ryan, Jeremy, Bowyn, a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, many other relatives, and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 children, Todd Davis, and Mary Rudersdorf, 2 sisters, Marcella and Sally, many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

   A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah.  Pastor Robert Gerke will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
