CATARACT - Carson Dewitt Jotham, 78, of Cataract, passed away November 21, 2022. Carson was born at home on December 13, 1943 to Roy and Sarah (Livangood) Jotham. He grew up on the family farm, attended West Prairie elementary school and then went to Melrose High School.

   On June 6, 1964, he married his soulmate, Karen Wells. Together they raised four children and farmed until Carson went to work at Fort McCoy. He then later went to work at Sparta Manufacturing, where he worked for thirty plus years. Carson retired in 2000. Retirement didn’t last long as he then worked at Habelman Bros and also worked for the Town of Little Falls.

   Carson was a man of many trades. He had a passion for collecting and restoring many John Deere tractors. He enjoyed and loved tractor pulling, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.

   Carson was a very hard worker, devoted husband, and an amazing father and grandpa. He is survived by his wife, Karen of 58 years; children, Randy (Kory) Jotham, Rhonda (Lynn) Abbott, and Joe (Heidi) Jotham. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, William (Sharon) Jotham and sister-in-law, Barb Jotham.

   Carson was preceded in death by his infant son and his son, Rick Jotham; parents, Roy and Sarah Jotham; maternal and paternal grandparents; sisters, Phyllis (Grayson) Brooks, Alice (Chester) Millard, Whylis (Kenneth) Brooks, Leone (Doug) Lakowske; and two brothers, Frederick and Eugene Jotham.

   A funeral service was held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend Roberta Nowicki officiating. Burial was in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract, with the following serving as pallbearers: Justin Jotham, Seth Abbott, Cody Jotham, Dylan Jotham, Devin Jotham, Zachary Jotham, Logan Greeno, and Sam Jandt.
