Carolyn Sue Christensen (89 years), Sparta, WI (11 September 1935 – 03 March 2025) is with Christ Jesus her Lord.
Carolyn was born on September 11, 1935, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Chester F. and Emily K. (Cooper) Degler.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Norton Christensen on 23 November 2022, and unborn child in February 1973. She is survived by children: Heather, Kyle, Erik, and Shawn; grandchildren: Erik Drew (wife Megan and son Asher), Jessica (husband Nick and son Theodore Rhodes), Drake (wife Jocelyn), Trent, Cameron, Alexis, Falicia, Jaeson, and Emily); brothers (Samuel and Daniel) and sisters (Linda and Rose); brother-in-law Calvin (wife Maree, deceased); and wonderful family and dear friends.
Carolyn spent her early childhood in Kokomo before her family moved to Zion, Illinois, where her father built a new home for the family. When Carolyn was a teenager, her father moved the family to a farm in New Lisbon, WI, where Carolyn graduated from New Lisbon High School and Juneau County Teachers College. Carolyn married Jack Christensen in New Lisbon on May 30, 1964. Carolyn taught in public and Christian schools, as a homeschool mother, and a daycare teacher. She was a pastor’s wife in Carrington, North Dakota, and worked in real estate and her family’s auction business, as well as other jobs in her busy life. She enriched the lives of her family and friends by baking, cooking, refinishing and repairing furniture, drawing, singing, and sharing her sense of humor and listening ear. She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren, playing board games with family, and even caring for the family pets.
Carolyn was a loving, protective wife and mother and a very giving person who always was helpful to others she met in business or the children she taught. She was truly the woman that is portrayed in Proverbs 31 in the Bible, working hard to provide for her family, as well as helping those in need and sharing with others the truth that Christ died for our sins and rose again so that those who trust in Him for salvation will have eternal life. We miss her greatly but know she is actively busy praising God in Heaven and hoping that those she knows and loves will trust in Christ as their Savior so she can see them again soon.
