Brookwood girls close out regular season with loss to Royall

The Brookwood girls’ basketball team will head into the postseason having dropped 11 straight games following their latest loss to Royall.

The Panthers (15-7 overall, 10-4 Scenic Bluffs) completed their season sweep by taking down the Falcons (3-21, 1-13) 62-39 when they met Tuesday, February 15 in Ontario. Royall had also won 78-27 during their first meeting back on January 13 in Elroy.

Brookwood junior guard Vanessa Anderson led the way with a game-high 24 points Tuesday night and senior guard Haley Nevin contributed 9 points.

The Panthers were led by junior guard Cailey Simmons with 18 points and senior forward Deyona Jones with 12 points.

The Falcons won’t be in action again until the start of the playoffs. They are the No. 15 seed in their region and will be going up against the second-seeded Blair-Taylor Wildcats (22-1) in the Division 5 regional quarterfinals Tuesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. in Blair.
