Brenda Jean “BJ” Weiss Newlun, 80 of Creekside Assisted Living, Sparta passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Brenda “BJ” was born on April 19, 1944, to John and Jean (Tatu) Weiss, she was the 2nd of 12 children. In 1963, BJ was married to the love of her life, Darwin Newlun. They celebrated 54 plus years together and were blessed with 5 children.
BJ’s love for family and friends was immeasurable. She loved raising her family on the farm and enjoyed baking for all her grandchildren. BJ could often be found tending to the beautiful and colorful flowers of her garden.
She will be missed, however knowing she was very strong in her faith by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, faithfully attending church and setting up a bible study for her friends at Creekside. Her family finds comfort that she is with Jesus!
She is survived by 5 children, Johnathan (Viki) Newlun of Baraboo, Katrina Parlow (Brett Giesecke) of Norwalk, Samantha Daley of Clarksville, TN, Tabitha (Randy) Bernett of Cashton, Shane (Trina) Newlun of Elroy, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is further survived by 9 siblings, nieces, nephews, 2 sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin, parents, a stepfather, Fred Winkelman, 2 siblings, Cheryl Martin and Curtis Winkelman, and a son-in-law, Kevin Daley.
According to her wishes no formal services will be held at this time.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, 2:00 PM at the Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale. Pastor Michael Gjefle will officiate. Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
