The Sparta Area Fire District, Wisconsin DNR and Fort McCoy personnel has responded to a fire north of highway 16 west of Jackson pass off of Hayride Rd. on Fort McCoy property around 5pm Friday.
The DNR started by unloading two dozers to create a ring around the fire.
An air attack was underway immediately by fort McCoy.
Crews worked to get the fire contained as quickly as possible and they did. As of 6:06p.m the "Hayride fire" was considered contained.
Officials are calling this the Hayride fire as the other fire on the north end of Fort McCoy is called the Arcadia fire, due to it being close to Arcadia Ave..
As of 4:45 P.M. APRIL 14, 2023 UPDATE: Containment of the Arcadia fire is at 99%. All road closures have been lifted; roads will be open as of 7 p.m.
