If so Monroe County’s Corporation Counsel Dept. is looking for a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Assistant Corporation Counsel. Successful candidates will have a degree from a recognized, certified school of law and be licensed to practice law in state of Wisconsin. One year in practice of law is preferred. Our Assistant Corporation Counsel provides general legal counsel to the county and its departments. This position will demonstrate quality research and writing skills including work on appellate briefs and shall assist in things like representing and advising on Child in Need of Protection and Services (CHIPS) cases; termination of parental rights, guardianships, child support, vulnerable adults, mental health, and assisting with county board related issues. Successful candidates will have an Associate degree in bookkeeping, accounting, financial management, or related field; or a minimum of two years related experience. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and driver liability insurance is required. Computer proficiency is helpful and desired. Bilingual fluency in Spanish is a plus. Candidates with an equivalent combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may also be considered. Economic Support Specialists screen, interview, verify, and process the eligibility of applicants for income maintenance programs. This role also maintains an ongoing client caseload under strict program guidelines. Current starting salary for this position is $19.87/hr.
